Dr Ranga J. Premaratna (PhD)
I would like to take this opportunity to provide some information on my academic, research, and clinical background. Up to high school I was educated at Ananda College, a Buddhist school founded by Colonel Henry Steel Olcott, an American theosophist.
I left Sri Lanka in 1978 for Hawaii to continue my education at University of Hawaii. I completed my BSc degree in Food and Nutritional Science in 1981. In 1982 I started my MSc degree in Food Microbiology and completed the degree in 1984. I moved to Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana, USA to begin doctoral studies in Food and Nutritional Science with specialization in the areas of biotechnology, Food Microbiology, and Nutrition. After my graduation, I was offered a Research Associate position at the Food research Institute, University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA.
My post-graduate research has been in the isolation and identification of spoilage bacteria in prawns. PhD research was in Biotechnology area. Research involved studying the effects of starter culture bacterial growth on ultra-filtered milk used in cheese manufacture. At the Food Research Institute, I worked on the development of a chemically defined culture medium to study virulence and nutritional requirements of Listeria monocytogenes and methods of inhibiting its growth in milk.
Since migrating to Australia in 1991 I have operated World of Health and developed the Return To Wellness practice to serve our customers in a more comprehensive way. I studied Ayurveda, the Indian system of medicine which I was brought up with, herbal medicine, and homeopathy to enrich my clinical knowledge. I also incorporated novel bio-energetic testing devices such as electro-dermal testing as well a dark field microscopy to get an in-depth understanding of the subtle energy imbalances and causative factors. Meditation and subtle energy health enhancing methods have also become an integral part of my own life as well as the treatment protocols.
Now 24 years since starting the shop and practice, I find there is so much more to learn in order to be of service to those who are suffering from such serious chronic degenerative diseases as cancer, arthritis, osteoporosis, and diabetes to name a few. As more advances are made in the arena of nutritional medicine, nutrigenomics, epigenetics, and quantum medicine, I feel more enthusiastic and hopeful in being part of the movement towards the prevention and supporting the healing of process of these diseases either through nutritional intervention alone or through working in conjunction with conventional medical practitioners and their treatments. My vision is to start a centre for health enhancement to help those who are suffering from chronic degenerative diseases.
The current work Nourish Detox Cleanse (NDC) evolved over the last 24 years in clinical practice as I incorporated my knowledge of nutrition and other healing modalities into practice. The NDC Fundamental Module is the stepping stone for integrating the NDC Wellness Model and program to prevent chronic degenerative diseases and enhance health and vitality.
